Management Team

Tim Doskotch, Site Manager

Tim Doskotch is a seasoned professional who currently serves as Site Manager at Northern Sun's Redstone Mill in Timmins, Ontario. He is a graduate of Cambrian College, where he earned a Canadian Scholarship for Science and Technology and graduated as an Instrumentation Technologist. Tim is one of the few technical personnel within the industry to hold an Interprovincial Red Seal trades classification for both Instrumentation and Electrical. With extensive years of mining and metal processing experience, Tim has served in various technical and management roles. He spent two years at the Kidd Creek Metallurgical facility in Timmins, where he primarily focused on the instrumentation and control aspects of processing facilities. He furthered his mining and metal processing experience with three years at Liberty Mines from 2010-2013. Tim began his career with Siemens in Ottawa, where he serviced clients such as Nortel Networks. He worked for Nortel Networks from 2001-2003, where he contributed to the development of Waste Water treatment systems, Toxic gas monitoring systems, and Ultra-Pure Water purification plants. He also worked as an automation technologist with Johnson Controls from 2003-2008. In 2014, Tim joined Northern Sun as an Electrical/Instrumentation Leader and has held various management positions since then. As Site Manager, Tim is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Redstone Mill.

Lonny Michel, Health, Safety and Environmental Superintendent

Lonny Michel, H.B.Sc. (Kin), CRSP, is a highly accomplished health and safety professional with over 20 years of expertise in the field. A Laurentian University graduate of the Kinesiology program in the School of Human Movement, Lonny has leveraged his academic background to excel in a range of sectors, including municipal, construction, manufacturing, and mining. Lonny’s expertise spans ergonomics, confined space, musculoskeletal disorders, safety management systems, and risk analysis. In 2008, he earned his Canadian Registered Safety Professional designation and was certified as an internal auditor for the OHSAS 18001 Safety Management System. Lonny also contributes to the training and development of employees across a broad range of topics. His instructional background has led him to a teaching position with the local college, where he has been a professor for the previous 12 years. His commitment to safety initiatives is evident through his involvement in WSPS and the IHSA Timmins Labour Management Committee, where he has helped create a local safety conference and a mock trial with the Ministry of Labour. Lonny was born and raised in the City of Timmins, and continues to reside there with his wife and two teenage children. In 2020, he joined the Northern Sun Mining Team as Health and Safety Superintendent and soon after attained the additional title of Environmental Superintendent.

Sterling McMeekin, Maintenance General Foreman

Sterling McMeekin is a highly qualified Electrical and Instrumentation Technologist who has obtained diplomas from both Cambrian College and Haileybury School of Mines. His dual trade experience and Interprovincial Red Seal trade classification in electrical is greatly valued in many industries. Sterling has been working in the field since 2006. He began his career as an Instrumentation Technician for Xstrata Copper Canada, where he was responsible for the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of process control equipment. From there, he moved on to Resolute Forest Products in Iroquois Falls, Ontario, as an Electrician/Instrumentation Technician. In 2015, Sterling joined Northern Sun Mining in the role of Electrical/Instrumentation Journeyman, and was subsequently promoted to Maintenance General Foreman in 2020.

Michel Lacroix, Operations General Foreman

Michel Lacroix has over three decades of expertise in the mining industry. He has held several supervisory positions and has provided effective leadership throughout his career. Michel has a deep understanding of process plant operations, and he is well-versed in optimizing mill circuits. He is also a certified Train-the-Trainer and holds multiple specialty modules. Michel rejoined the Northern Sun Mining Team in 2014 after having been employed with Liberty Mines (formerly known as) from 2007-2012. Michel currently serves as the Operations General Foreman, providing expert guidance and leadership in daily operations.

Riley McNamara, Laboratory Supervisor

Riley McNamara is a distinguished graduate of the University of Ottawa, having earned a Bachelor of Applied Science in Chemical Engineering. Riley is diligently pursuing his Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation. Riley joined the Northern Sun Mining team in 2019 as a Process Engineer in Training. His career at Northern Sun Mining has provided him with a comprehensive understanding of the processes and procedures associated with mineral processing and precious metal recovery. After three years of gaining valuable experience and honing invaluable skills, in 2022 Riley was promoted to Laboratory Supervisor.

Sarah Marazzo, Human Resources Coordinator

Sarah Marazzo is a Human Resources Professional with over 8 years of experience in the mining industry. She earned an Ontario College advanced diploma in Business Administration, specializing in Human Resources Management from Northern College in Timmins, Ontario. Originally from the north, Sarah is proud to have established her career in the same region. Throughout her career, Sarah has developed expertise in various aspects of Human Resources, including recruitment, compliance, benefits, and payroll. She is known for her ability to navigate complex compliance requirements and ensure that organizational policies align with regulatory standards. In addition to her Human Resources role, Sarah also provides support in accounting and purchasing. Sarah joined the Northern Sun Mining team in 2014 in the role of Human Resources Coordinator.
