Lonny Michel

Lonny Michel, H.B.Sc. (Kin), CRSP, is a highly accomplished health and safety professional with over 20 years of expertise in the field. A Laurentian University graduate of the Kinesiology program in the School of Human Movement, Lonny has leveraged his academic background to excel in a range of sectors, including municipal, construction, manufacturing, and mining.

Lonny’s expertise spans ergonomics, confined space, musculoskeletal disorders, safety management systems, and risk analysis. In 2008, he earned his Canadian Registered Safety Professional designation and was certified as an internal auditor for the OHSAS 18001 Safety Management System. Lonny also contributes to the training and development of employees across a broad range of topics. His instructional background has led him to a teaching position with the local college, where he has been a professor for the previous 12 years.

His commitment to safety initiatives is evident through his involvement in WSPS and the IHSA Timmins Labour Management Committee, where he has helped create a local safety conference and a mock trial with the Ministry of Labour.

Lonny was born and raised in the City of Timmins, and continues to reside there with his wife and two teenage children. In 2020, he joined the Northern Sun Mining Team as Health and Safety Superintendent and soon after attained the additional title of Environmental Superintendent.
